Change Is Possible
Want to know the number one thing people say BEFORE they begin their sophrology journey with me?
“That’s just the way I am. I don’t think I can change.”
In their mind, change isn’t possible because they feel it’s the hardware with which they were born. Many people believe that they are innately programmed to be a certain way (anxious, stressed, moody, worried, pessimistic, poor sleeper).
The thing is, we CAN change. Change is possible.
Much of what we do is our habitual way of responding to our environment and others in our life. We reinforce our automatic responses over time with lots of practice. Any other possible reactions remain forgotten through lack of use.
How Sophrology Can Spark Change
A personalized sophrology accompaniment can help rewire how you observe and react to what’s going on. Through consistently practicing non-judgment, self-compassion and gentle kindness towards yourself and your experience during the guided exercises, you’re training yourself to start being that way in other parts of your life. That training gets reinforced through the miracle of neuroplasticity!
- Paying attention to pleasant sensations can help you to search out the positive.
- Observing an uncomfortable sensation without judgment can help you realize that you can choose how to deal with something unpleasant. You have choices. Learning to see things as they are without creating or projecting a story is liberating.
- Integrating your values and your sense of personal freedom into your life can make a whole new existence available to you. You can get out of your way and feel confident affirming what’s important to you.
Many people come to work with me because other people in their life stress them out: spouses, colleagues, and children. My clients realize that they can’t change the people in their life, but they can change how they respond and react to those people.
My Personal Experience with Sophrology
This realization of controlling my reactions was my experience when I first discovered sophrology back in 2015.
Work was stressful, and I was having difficulty with my new boss. After having my first-ever panic attack at a staff meeting, I contacted a sophrologist based on a colleague’s suggestion.
At first, I blamed the job and my boss for my panic attacks. Then, I realized that I could let go, gain perspective, and be clear on my values and boundaries.
It was a game-changer!
Not only did work start feeling more manageable (and the panic attacks stopped), but I also started truly living outside of work. I spent more time outdoors, snowshoeing, skiing and hiking. I travelled more to experience things that fed my soul. I started aqua gym and swimming lessons and finally learned how to swim proper lengths at the pool! I reached out to new people and began to make more friends.
What started as a work stress issue turned into a life-enhancing experience.
Client Results
After finishing a personalized 9-week sophrology program, clients say,
“I realized that I’m free to change my perspective and let go of anything that’s holding me back. I feel so much calmer in my everyday life.”
And also:
“I realized that the pressure I was feeling was coming from myself. The biggest things getting in my way were my fears and limiting thoughts. I now know how to let those things go and melt away.”
What a difference 2.5 months can make!
